Older homes usually have two-prong outlets instead of today's standard three-prong outlets that include a ground wire. Instead of rewiring your home to correct this issue, there is another cheaper way by installing GFCI Outlets on the first outlet in a run. NOTE: I am not an electrician, nor do I claim to be.
